The latest move in this year's round of designer musical chairs comes from Edun: On Monday, Danielle Sherman announced her resignation as creative director of the brand, according to a report by WWD. Sherman joined Edun after stints at Alexander Wang (where she was the design director for T by Alexander Wang) and The Row back in 2013, when she replaced Sharon Wachoub, who left the label after six seasons to focus on her eponymous line.

When Ali Hewson and husband Bono founded Edun in 2005, ethical fashion with ties to Africa was the label's main mission, and a notable contribution during Sherman's tenure is that over 95 percent of the brand's collections were produced in Africa.

Although Sherman's exit "to pursue other opportunities" hasn't immediately sparked any rumors, it's slightly unsettling how sudden (and frequent) these designer departures and shuffles from fashion houses have become. Edun, backed by LVMH since 2009, joins Calvin Klein and Dior, which are still on the hunt to fill their creative director positions. Sherman only served as creative director at the brand for three years — the same amount of time that Alexander Wang held the title at Balenciaga, Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent, and Raf Simons at Dior.

We have reached out to Edun's representatives for comment and will update as we learn more.
